Fixed Font : DB Thai Text Fixed, 14 points

HOW TO READ THAI PAGES

Instructions for PCs running Windows 3.1/Windows95/Windows98

The instructions here are for Windows users only. If you are using other platforms, I suggest you go to http://www.inet.co.th/www/thai/thai_font.html or the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), Thailand. 

Three Steps to Install Thai Fonts to Your System

If you already have the Thai version of Windows3.1 or Windows95/98, go to [Step III] and disregard the first two steps. 

[Step I] : Obtain Thai Fonts

  • Obtain a truetype font called DBThaiText
  • Unzip the file (It is self extract file). You will now have the file dbtt.ttf in your system. 
  • Make sure you remember where your file dbtt.ttf is located. 

[Step II] : Install Thai Fonts

Use the ordinary font installation processes for Windows3.1 or Windows 95/98

Windows3.1

You should have started Windows and are now in Program Manager. 
  • double click "Main" 
  • double click "Control Panel" 
  • double click "Fonts" 
  • select "Add Fonts". You will have "Add Fonts" Window open on your screen. 
  • select drive and folder of the new font. (It is the file named dbtt.ttf you just downloaded and unzipped.) 
  • Click "OK" 

Windows 95 / 98

  • click "Start" (The button at the left bottom of the screen.) 
  • point your mouse to "Setting" 
  • click "Control Panel" 
  • double click "Fonts". You will have "Fonts" Windows open on your screen. 
  • click "File" (at the top left corner of the "Fonts" Window) 
  • select "Install New Fonts" 
  • select drive and folder location of the new font. (It is the file named dbtt.ttf you just downloaded and unzipped.) 
  • click "OK" 

[Step III] : Setup for Your Browser (Netscape 3.0, Netscape Communicator 4.5 or MS InternetExplore)

Netscape 3.0 

You should now have Netscape Window open on your screen. 
  • click "Options" 
  • click "General Preferences..." 
  • click "Fonts" tab 
  • in the "For the Encoding: " selection, select "User Define" or "Western"
  • in the "Use the Proportional Font: ", click button "Choose Font..." 
  • select "DB ThaiText", select font size. (16 points recommend) 
  • in the "Use the Fixed Font: ", click button "Choose Font..." 
  • select "DB ThaiTextFixed", select font size. (14 points recommend) 
  • click "OK" 
  • click "Options" ("Yes", click it again.) 
  • point your mouse to "Document Encoding" 
  • click "User Define" or "Western". You should now be able to read this "ÂÔ¹´Õµé͹ÃѺ" 

Netscape Communicator 4.5

You should now have Netscape Communicator Window open on your screen. 
  • click "Edit" (top screen bar command)
  • click "Preferences..." 
  • click "Fonts" 
  • in the "For the Encoding: " selection, select "User Define" or "Western"
  • in the "Viariable Width Font ", selection, select "DB Thai Text", select font size (16  points recommend) 
  • In the "Fixed Width Font", selection, select "DB ThaiTextFix", select font size (14 points recommend) 
  • click OK 
  • click "View" (top screen bar command)
  • click "Character Set", select "User Define" or "Western"
  • click "View" (top screen bar command) again
  • click "Character Set", select "Set Default Character Set"
  • You should now be able to read this "ÂÔ¹´Õµé͹ÃѺ

MS Internet Explore

You should now have InternetExplore running on your screen. 
  • click "View" 
  • click "Options..." 
  • click "Appearance" tab. 
  • in the "Proportional Font: " selection, select "DB Thai Text" (or other Thai font you might already have.) 
  • in the "Fixed-width Font: " selection, select "DB Thai Text Fixed" (or other Thai fixed font you might already have.) 
  • click "OK". You should now be able to read this "ÂÔ¹´Õµé͹ÃѺ
If you want a larger or smaller font, follow these instructions. 
  • click "View" 
  • point your mouse to "Fonts" 
  • click a size on the list.
