INSTRUCTIONS
Export of Antiques of Art from the Kingdom of Thailand

  1. Buddha images, Budhisettva images or fragments there of are forbidden to be taken out of the country (with the exception only new Buddha images for worshipping by Buddhists or cultural exchanges or studying purposes but a license must be obtained from the Department of Fine Arts). They are allowed 5 pieces per person. 
  2. A license must be obtained from the Department of Fine Arts in order that such objects of antiquity or objects of art, irrespective of whether they are originals or reproductions, may be taken out of the country.
  3. Procedure of license application.
    1. photograph the front view of objects (The buddha images) and make two postcard sized prints (not more than 2 or 3 pieces on one photograph) 
    2. The passport of the applicant must be photocopied and its genuity must be certified by the Embassy.
    3. objects together with the photographs and applicant's passport with the photocopy must be taken to

      at least five days before the date of shipment or departure of the applicant in order to process the application and for inspection.
